(Name’s) hearts sank. Was that true? She saw the stage and the rope which would kill her making her feel sick. The guards pulled her up onto the stage, the loop was too high so she had to stand on a small wobbly stool. The man behind her pulled her head into the loop and she stood there- shaking.

She could hear someone saying something ‘by the degree of the King’ and ‘death sentence’, she heard the date and her name but couldn’t make sense of anything else.

“Any last words sweety?” The man asked. (Name) gulped; worried she would burst into tears if she opened her mouth. She felt her eyes become wet.

“Curse you all” she hissed and spat on the man in front of her. He narrowed his eyes- and kicked the stool.

To (Name) the world went into slow motion after that, she knew she was going to die. Without ever knowing what had really happened, a lurch of terror had gone trough her. There was the executors face, then...

King Ivan made his way to (Name)'s cell. He would just take her out of that cell and no-one would stop him, nobody could stop him, obviously because he was the king. Then he'd get her tidied up, he could already imagine everything... except for her reaction. Even though he did remember what she had said before about that subject. She'd laughed at him. He frowned a little then sighted, fingering the sunflower in his hands anxiously. Finally he approached the cell, there was no sign of anyone, King Ivan blinked and pushed the door open. He glanced at the guard on the other side.

"Where's the prisoner who was over here?" He asked, even though he put it in a question structure giving no answer wasn't a choice. He waited. The guard coughed.

"Why Your majesty, her execution was held in the morning." King Ivan froze.

"What do you mean..."

"Sir she was hanged Your Majesty," The guard mumbled. King Ivan stared at him, a series of emotions going trough his head, horror, confusion, anger, but most of all sadness. He wouldn't take this as an answer. This wasn't the answer. He felt his anger swelling up, his eyes darkened turning cold.

"Why was I not told of this." he hissed, he was trying not to let his voice shake, but all the same a lump formed in his throat. He wasn't used to this feeling.

"Y-your Hi-highness I d-didn't know you didn't-" King Ivan stormed past him, the sunflower dropped on the ground, crushing under his foot. His eyes felt wet, but he wouldn't cry.

"Get here this second! THE LOT OF YOU GOOD FOR NOTHING IDIOTS!" The guards and executioner hurried forward, the same look of terror mirrored each of their eyes. He turned to them.

"Why was I not told of this..." He couldn't say the full sentence, couldn't bear to think about it. His voice shook with uncontrollable anger.

"W-why your Highness, we didn't think you would care so..." That familiar voice, the voice of the wretched general, his face made The Kings inside lurch.

"This is my castle" The General found himself looking up at the King. "This is my business  is that understood?"  The General nodded. The King clenched his fists. He opened his mouth to say something but the words wouldn't come out, with a flap of his cloak, he stormed past.

The King didn't think the day would ever come. The day where salty tears streamed sown his face, his head was in his hands and the tears from his eyes created a wet stain on his papers. But he couldn't stop the tears, no matter how hard he tried. He actually felt ta pain in his chest. Why had he been so stupid to even have liked her in the first place, to even look at her more then once. This was his mistake and (Name) had payed for it with her life.

(Name) opened her eyes, her head throbbed her her eyes still felt heavy. She was trying to remember what had happened. When the stool had fallen her neck was supposed to have broken, but somebody had thrown something had the rope which had cut right trough it. She'd fallen on her feet and stumbled again. Feeling light headed, she'd been so close to death. But before (Name) could do anything herself someone had pulled her from the back and shoved a bag over her head. The bag smelt of potatoes.

Before she knew it the person was dragging her back, she'd tried to fight back of course, but her attempts seemed nothing to whoever it was. Then the bag had been removed, but that didn't mean she would have the chance of seeing the persons face. The person had shoved a cloth on her face, forcing her to breath the sweet, sticky smell of chloroform. And now she'd woken up.

The room she was in was grand. There were large windows and open space, but it still wasn't too over the top. (Name) gulped, only the General was this rich. she didn't want to think what would happen if it was the General, though she didn't recall him having such an accurate aim... (Name) sighed, sinking back into her pillow. The door opened but (Name) didn't notice, she had already fallen asleep.

The person stared at (Name) and tilted his head. Stupid girl, stupid King... he sighed and put the bowl back down, with a look of annoyance he got up and walked back out.

When (Name) woke up again she was in a much more shabbier room. She groaned and pushed herself up. Her headache had gotten less. She blinked glancing around. There was someone at the front of the fire, but it was definitely not the General. The person had dark shoulder length hair. He turned, sensing himself being stared at. The person raised their eyebrow and looked her up and down.

"So you're the Kings lady-friend.." He looked amused. (Name) nearly choked on the very air she was breathing in. She stared at him in disbelief.

"I am not!"

"Then why has your face turned to red...?" The person had the lightest of blue eyes, he was a good few years older then her, her guess about 35...

"With anger..." (Name) snapped. She narrowed her eyes. "Who are you?"

"I'll tell you once you thank me..." (Name) blinked and crossed her arms. The person simply raised his eyebrow again. A few seconds trailed by.

"Thanks..." (Name) grumbled and glared at him.

"Now for your question, I am supposed to be the next princesses guardian... but there is no princess... I know... however, The King will have to get married sooner or later so I was appointed here..." The man looked at her again, with the same amused look on his face. "So who are you actually." (Name) blinked.

"Why I am his Majesty Highnesses main maid... coffee maker..." (Name) curtsied with an imaginary dress. She smiled as sweetly as she could. The person nodded slowly.

"You're his servant..." He thought for a bit, "Explains it all..." he muttered, turning back to the fire. He picked up a piece of bread with some cheese on it and handed it to her. She blinked and took it.

"You know, you didn't have to *chewchew* drug me..." (Name) explained with her mouth full. The man glanced at her annoyed.

"You would've just gotten in the way." (name) blinked.

"I will have you know that I am trained in the mysterious ways of the Ninja!" (Name) prodded the air in front of him, spitting half the content of her mouth on him. The man sighted.

"I'll drug you again if you want" He warned, (Name) took a moment to think about what he had said and shook her head giving him a slow, (very) cheesy, lazy grin.

"No thanks."

"Fine, then change." The man threw a pair of clothes at her. (Name) caught them, chewing vigorously.

"Anything else?" (Name) asked grinning again.

"Try to look like a boy... and you've got bread stuck in your teeth" The man nodded. (Name) smiled.

The King stared at Hilda. Even at a time like this... she was...

"So have your considered my question Your Majesty?" She asked. The King looked down quietly, he hadn't spoken much for the past days.

"I don't want to see you right now Hilda..." Hilda smiled, realizing that he sounded much like his older self. She nodded and stood up. King Ivan didn't want Hilda to take (Name)'s position... he looked out of the window with a distant look in his eyes. There was another knock on the door. The King sighed and glanced up.

"Enter." He glanced at the man who had entered. He wore a guardian warriors clothes, the man didn't bother asking the King's permission to sit down.

"Your Highness, you asked for me..." Ivan blinked and nodded. His council had called him actually.

"I'm afraid you're not needed, I don't plan in getting married just yet..."

"I know you are too young..." The King blinked, that was the first time someone had told him he was too young to marry. "But I've come here with.." He gestured to his right where a boy stood. His hat covered his eyelashes but the King could still make out they were unusually long for a boy.

"I don't need another stable boy thanks..." He muttered. Hilda walked in carrying a cup of coffee, the boy blinked. The King glanced at it. The boy shook his head.

"Offended your Highness!" (Name) took off her cap, "Replacing me already!" The King stared, his mouth opened but he closed it again.

Maybe he was going mental.

(Name) blinked. She glanced at the guardian.

"He thinks I'm dead..." The guardian nodded. King Ivan groaned. (Name) smiled.

"Just how I left him, frowning!"
